the finish it! challenge ended on 12/15, so let's sum it up. i got everything done (or done to my satisfaction at least). You can see Chase's results on her blog.

A few things were added to the list along the way: #9 toddler top, and #10 wedding quilt. The top was completed, but i didn't finish the quilt. The quilt top is pieced together, and it is quilted, I have just the binding left. it is done to my satisfaction at this point, and i have until october to finish it without committing any wedding gift faux pas.

The other item that didn't get done was #8, a second pair of booties. the baby that they were intended for already out grew them, and really all i had done was the cuff so, i decided to just move on.

it's a snap!

This one has been done for a while, but it is one of thoes things I needed help photographing. I started it in april '09 (ahem) and finished it at the end of september. I am embarrassed to say I had left it lingering with the snap tape sewn 3/4 of the way sewn on for over a year.

It was inspired by this snap-up cowl I saw on etsy. Despite that it took me so long to finish, I really like the result.

bity booties

I made these booties for maggie's new little one. I started these ages ago, finished the first bootee, started the second one... and then I couldn't find the first. I am blaming it on carlton the sock thief. When little Kole was born, I realized I better get these done before he out grows them, so I knit a third bootee.

I wanted to include big brother kai, so I put together a little gift for him too. When I was out shopping I found that most kids stuff was covered with ugly designs. I think it is never too early to impose good taste on the young, so I decided to transform a crayola drawing pad into something a little cuter.

I used spray adhesive to affix a pattern paper to the cover, then added a cute robot sticker, and finished it off by personalizing with k's name. Simple and fun. I also included some fun robot colored pencils, and a tucked a bunch of stickers inside.

With the booties done, my list for the "finish it!" challeng looks like this.

progress

I am making some slow, but steady, progress on the "finish it!" challenge list. I stumbled, and made some halloween crafts... I don't know if it was breaking the "no new projects" rule or just bending it. Either way, I still planning on getting through this list by the Dec. 15 deadline.

chunky footies

Another project ready to cross off of my list for the finish it challenge. These are some chunky slipper socks I started last February. I was cold and wanted some warm slippers now. I pulled out my chunkiest yarn and whipped up the first one and started the second... and then ignored them for six moths.

These are made of yarn I had bought at a garage sale in Alaska shortly after I learned to knit back in 2005. They are a bit too big, and one is larger then the other due to change in my tension from now and when I started them six months ago. I think that a little wash and block will fix the fit, easy enough.

Remember my list of unfinished projects for the finish it challenge?  Well I knew that I had some upcoming occasions that I wanted to make gifts for, so I wrote in a clause, that I could start (and finish) projects as gifts. I have a couple of projects in progress that fit under this clause.

The first of these is this little  knitting project for a 2-yr old birthday girl

The second is a quilt. Yes, a quilt! This is my first quilt project, and it is intended to be a wedding gift. I have exactly 30 days to finish it in time for the wedding. (Yes, I know that I have up to a year after the wedding to give a gift, but I don't want this to linger). I better get busy. heh.

finish it. part 2.

I am proud to say that I have completed two of the items from my list for the finish it challenge.

first is this tiny stripy baby jacket made up of odds and ends that have accumulated. Here I am holding it up for scale. Like everything I am knitting these days, it is of my own design, knit from the top down, and in the round.

the little guy i made this for won't be arriving until fall, and taking pictures of flat baby sweaters is getting old, so i  put it on carlton.

Secondly, I have finished up this little kimono style cardigan for the same little one who is receiving the stripy sweater. 

Again, it is knit from the top down and is my own design.  All the details are on my raverly page.

Finish It.

My friend Chase is hosting a finish it challenge over at her blog "oh the cuteness" . The idea is to finish all of your unfinished craft projects before starting anything new. I don't have a ton, but I thought I would play along. The deadline is Dec. 15th, but I have some birthdays and weddings between now and then, so I am making an exception for making gifts for those events.
